PSHS Batch '79

Beatrice Jayme- Tiangco

Trixie is the Project Leader of the CMBSLEF. She is a practicing medical oncologist who trained in the University of Pittsburgh. She was given the Balik Scientist Award by the DOST and so she decided to return to the Philippines in 1997. She is a Past President of the Philippine Society of Medical Oncology, and a Fellow of the Philippine College of Physicians and the Philippine Society of Hematology and Blood Transfusion. She also has a Masters Degree in Clinical Epidemiology and is involved in several global ciinical trials in oncology, acting as Principal Investigator in many local clinical trial sites. She recently successfully completed the Leadership and Management Development Program of the Ateneo Graduate School of Business (an 8-month certificate course for The Medical City) with a Director's Award for Academic Excellence. She continues to teach at the University of the Philippines as Clinical Associate Professor of the UP College of Medicine. 

Patty Brown-Juat

Patty is the Batch President. She was, since high school. She has a degree in Marine Biology, as well as Graduate Certificate in Distance Education. She worked for a large IT company before retiring to famiy business and family priorities. An active member of the PTA at PSHS Main Campus where five of her children studied.

Terry Yu-Tan

Terry is the information hub and treasurer of the batch. She is a professional chemical engineer, now working for a large pharmaceutical company.

Joey Tenefrancia

 

Joe Nathan “Joey” P. Tenefrancia is the Managing Partner of Cruz Marcelo & Tenefrancia Law Office.  His law office was founded together with former Secretary of National Defense Avelino J. Cruz, Jr., former Ombudsman and Solicitor General Simeon V. Marcelo and twelve (12) other Partners.

 

Joey obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of the Philippines in 1990, where he was Chief Justice Fred Ruiz-Castro Scholar. He graduated class Salutatorian with a Dean's Medal for Academic Excellence. He was also Chancellor of the Order of the Purple Feather Honor Society and Member of the Student Editorial Board of the Philippine Law Journal.  Joey also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mining Engineering from the University of the Philippines where he graduated in 1985.

 

Joey was an active student leader.  He served as President of the UP College of Law Student Government (1989-1990).  He was a student activist during the Martial Law years and was elected Councilor of the UP College of Arts and Sciences Student Council (1981-1982) under the SAMASA Party.

 

In February 2001, Joey was appointed Assistant Secretary for Legal Affairs (Presidential Management Staff) under the Office of the President.  He was Chief Presidential Legal Counsel (with the rank of Cabinet Secretary) from January 2004 to August 2004. Thereafter, he was appointed Senior Deputy Executive Secretary for Legal Affairs, Office of the Executive Secretary (with the rank of Cabinet Secretary) under the Office of the President from September 2004 to December 2005.

 

Joey was formerly a Trustee of the Philippine Science High School National Alumni Association (2011-2013).  He is currently a Trustee and the Corporate Secretary of the Philippine Science High School Foundation, Inc. (Updated as of 08 September 2014)

Six batchmates have quietly worked on the fund-raising activity by contacting and approaching classmates based on the Freshman year sections.

Arnie Azcarraga

BS Applied Mathematics, cum laude, at UPLB as an NSDB-INTAPS scholar; MS Computer Science at the Asian Institute of Technology under DAAD/German grant; PhD in Computer Science from INP-Grenoble under a French government scholarship.

 

Has been with De La Salle University since 1993, as Professor of Computer Science. Has been Vice Dean, Dean, Associate Vice Chancellor for External Relations, Vice Chancellor for Research, and Executive Vice President (for De La Salle Canlubang).

 

Has been affiliated with the National Computer Cernter and has also been a Senior Research Fellow at the National University of Singapore. Has done the UNISTAFF University Leadership programme in Germany, and also participated in the Lasallian Leadership workshop in Rome. Is a Senior Quality Assurance assessor of the Asean University Network (AUN).

 

Arnie has thrice served as member/Auditor of the Board of the PSHS alumni association (PSHSAA and PSHSNAA). Currently in the Board of the International Association of Lasalle Universities (IALU).

 

Gawad Lagablab awardee in 2005. Member of Mensa since 2005.
